Boasting Russian, French and Scottish heritage, Katherine Shearer was born and bred in Adelaide, Australia, to an artist father and a mother who is an award-winning poet and singer. Given this background, it’s no surprise that Katherine Shearer is the extremely talented and versatile performer that she is. 

Katherine began treading the boards at a young age and by  primary school she was performing as a solo singer and instrumentalist, winning Adelaide Eisteddfods and enrolling in the Adelaide Conservatorium as a single studies student. Katherine won a music scholarship to Brighton Secondary School where her life was full of choirs, orchestras, baroque ensembles, bands and... acting.

It was during her time at Brighton Secondary School that Katherine’s love affair with acting really began when she won the High School Drama Award.

Her studies continued after school with a year in Europe studying music. She also got involved with the Amsterdam Chamber theatre.  Katherine graduated with a BA Hons from Flinders Drama Centre, S.A, during which time she performed the role of 'Koala Mum' in the Australian premiere of Mem Fox's musical Koala Lou, which toured rural S.A as well as South Korea. Whilst at Flinders she received a three month scholarship to the Guildford School of Acting in England.

Upon graduating, Katherine joined the Sydney-based company SMK1, as a dancer and singer, and performed in the Singapore Arts Festival, Shanghai International FestivalInternational Theatre Festival of Bogota Columbia, Doha Summer Festival Qatar and Suwon Fortress Festival Korea. She has also performed in Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.

Katherine has also chalked up an impressive resume as an actor and presenter in TV commercials, Corporate Entertainment and Advertorial Print Campaigns. She has presented for Foxtel from telstra and ELGAS Sydney. She has in 2012 become the new face of perfume TABU. She has represented the Australian accessories label Jendi, and has worked alongside Sarah O'Hare for Bonds, Jamie Druie for Boral, Rebecca Gibney for Olay, Matt Passmore for Tooheys New, Roy Billing for GIO, as well as campaigns ranging from Wonderbum Stockings to the latest TVC for CHOICES flooring. Katherine also appeared in the music video for Memorial Day directed by Russell Crowe, performed by his band 30 Odd Foot of Grunt

Whilst studying at the Ivana Chubbuck Studio in LA Katherine acted in the critically acclaimed short film The Nuclear Family which won the Grand Prize of the 2010 Swackhamer Disarmament Video Contest for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. The short was also screened at the UN.

Katherine has continues to perform on both stage and screen, recently scoring a cameo in the eagerly anticipated horror film Redd Inc and will appear in RAKE, Season 2 on the ABC.

Katherine is currently rehearsing Mary Zimmerman's METAMORPHOSES which will be performed at the PACT Theatre in Sydney in July.
